Dr. Kevin Smith was a recent assistant professor of internal medicine prior to and an ABOM diplomate passionate about obesity medicine, board preparation, and teaching. In his studies for his ABOM examination, he found it difficult to find challenging, up-to-date questions that mirrored topics covered on the exam. Thus, he combined his aspirations and bridged the gap with "Obesity Medicine Board Review Questions."
Dr. Smith has an extensive background in board review education, being the director of one of the largest preclinical board review question banks in the country for the past 5 years, and a question author for 3 years prior to that. In addition, he recently had a chapter published, "Hormones of Obesity Care: PYY, Ghrelin, GLP-1, and GIP," in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Examination and Board Review (McGraw Hill). He also has had the privilege to work alongside some of the brightest minds in obesity medicine in an academic setting for the past few years.
In 2020, the first edition of "Obesity Medicine Board Review Questions" was released with 150 board-sytle questions with expounded answer explanations. It gained traction, and since then, the most recent edition, published 2024, has over 270 questions with custom illustrations, and high-quality explanations.
In addition, a second book, "Obesity Medicine: Practice Tests" was released with 350 unique assessment questions. It was created to cement concepts and quickly identify knowledge deficits that require additional study prior to test day.
These books have achieved Amazon #1 Best Seller ratings in the Bariatric, Study Guides, Medical School Guides, and New Release categories.
