Obesity Medicine Review
Welcome to Obesity Medicine Review
We are so pleased to introduce you to our new website and the newest resources available for obesity medicine, from audio-based courses, blogs in print and audio, an integrated question bank, our print book series, and so much more. How ever you like to learn, we probably have a resource that fits. Our goal at OMR is to help you learn how to self-identify your own content weaknesses and provide the tools needed to turn them into strengths, which is not only a win on test day, but for the people you will meet every day in your own practice.
Since the first edition of Obesity Medicine Board Review Questions was released in 2020 with 150 board-style questions, the resource has evolved significantly. In 2023, Obesity Medicine: Practice Tests was introduced to provide additional rapid-assessment-style questions to reinforce core topics. By 2024, these high-quality questions were converted into an online Q-bank format offering a test-simulation experience. The 2026 edition reflects major updates, incorporating the latest practice guidelines, metabolic and bariatric surgery updates, and FDA-approved treatments. Now featuring over 825 study questions, the content is available in print and an online Q bank format, complemented by custom illustrations, algorithms, and tables.
Dr. Smith’s board review questions have become one of the most widely used and highly rated ABOM study resources, trusted by over 80% of ABOM exam candidates.

Dr. Kevin Smith
Dr. Kevin Smith is an internal medicine physician and ABOM diplomate with a strong passion for obesity medicine, board preparation, and teaching. He previously served as an academic physician for five years, during which he helped establish a multidisciplinary medical/surgical obesity medicine program and held various leadership roles, including Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Associate Program Director, and Course Director for Clinical Medicine.
During his preparation for the ABOM examination, Dr. Kevin Smith found it challenging to locate high-quality, up-to-date questions that reflected the exam’s key topics. To bridge this gap, he combined his passion for teaching and board preparation to create Obesity Medicine Board Review Questions.
Dr. Smith has an extensive background in board review education, serving as the director of one of the largest preclinical board review question banks in the country for the past seven years and as a question author for three years prior. He recently contributed a chapter, “Hormones of Obesity Care: PYY, Ghrelin, GLP-1, and GIP,” to Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Examination and Board Review (McGraw Hill). Additionally, he has had the privilege of working alongside leading experts in obesity medicine in an academic setting. Finally, he recently presented Test Preparation and Sample Board Questions with Q&A at the Columbia Cornell Obesity Medicine Review Course (2025).
Dr. Smith is currently an internal medicine physician in South Dakota, where he practices obesity medicine, primary care, inpatient care, and consultations as part of a multi-provider group. He is married to his active and supportive wife Kelly, enjoys spending time with their three daughters, and two very spoiled dogs.

Kelly Smith
Kelly has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as an RN in adult critical care for 7 years, before retiring in 2024. Her role in OMR started early as copy-editing questions and acting as a sounding board for ideas and concepts. Today, she continues her role as copy editor, has likely packed and shipped your book order, and has expanded into audio production, learning path facilitator, and general business management.
Kelly resides in South Dakota, with Kevin, their three daughters, and two dogs. When not working for OMR, you’ll likely find her supporting their daughters in their interests or running on a trail.
