Additional Updates
All of the additional updates below were made based on direct feedback to help optimize studying. Please make sure to provide feedback after the exam for continued improvements!
- Improved indexing: Quickly locate topics and questions in the blue book with an enhanced index. Split into 10 categories (e.g., surgery, pharmacology) and then further classified by topics (e.g., FDA indications for anti-obesity medications) allows for easier finding of questions and topics you would like to reference. The online version of the blue book is also split into 10 categories, so you can pick more specific topics to study (e.g., genetics, pharmacotherapy, metabolic and bariatric procedures).
- Enhanced explanations and tables: Similar to last year, there are improved answer explanations for incorrect responses. For example, last year, although the red book added 50 questions (12.5% increase), there was a 50% increase in text, primarily due to improved explanations of why incorrect answers were not the best answer. In addition, nearly 100 more tables, algorithms, and images were added this year to relevant questions to expand understanding. More will be created and added over the season to the online Q bank.
- Additional questions: Nearly 100 new questions have been added compared to the 2025 edition. Over 200 high-yield tables and images are also included in the red book’s appendix as a consolidated study resource.
- Blog links: Within the relevant online Q-Bank questions, direct links to updated study blogs are now included. Look for the “Learn More: BLOG” links within the explanations. These blogs have all been updated and include references to additional study questions in the 2026 books for deeper review. (Feature currently being added- will be completed by the end of January)
